The concrete slab needs to be durable and of the highest quality to enhance the lifespan of your new home. In an endeavour to save costs, some home builders will use slabs as thin as 75mm. At Persona Homes, we won’t use anything less than 100mm to ensure the integrity of your home’s foundation.
Another important structural aspect to consider is the bricks used by the home builder. There are two types of clay internal bricks: vertically cored and horizontally cored. At Persona Homes, we always use vertically cored bricks which have a compressive strength of 12Mpa, compared to horizontally cored bricks which only have an Mpa of 3.50. That’s just one of the many ways that we’re committed to quality building.
If you’re on the hunt to find a builder, it’s crucial to consider their credentials. A large number of registered builders are ex-trades people, such as brick layers or roof carpenters. However, a builder that is qualified as a civil or structural engineer can offer a higher level of technical service and attention to detail when it’s time to build.
Before signing with a builder, you must first be satisfied with their reputation. If the builder won’t let you speak to existing or past clients, and/or they’ve appeared at the Building Commission, these are potential red flags.
